What is the difference between Femto-LASIK and PRK?

Femto-LASIK creates a thin corneal flap to access the tissue to be treated, which allows for very rapid visual recovery — often functional the next day. PRK works directly on the surface, without a flap: recovery takes two to six weeks, but the cornea remains mechanically stronger. The choice between the two depends on the thickness of your cornea, your lifestyle and your medical history. The preoperative exam determines which technique is suitable.

From what age can one undergo laser eye surgery?

Generally from age 18, provided the correction has been stable for at least two years. There is no fixed upper age limit for laser surgery, but beyond 45-50 years, other solutions such as PRELEX may be better suited depending on the profile.

Is laser eye surgery painful?

No. The procedure is performed under topical anaesthesia with eye drops. You feel no pain during the procedure. After Femto-LASIK, discomfort is minimal. After PRK, the first 48 hours can be uncomfortable, but remain manageable with the prescribed treatments.
