My approach

Portrait of Dr Serdal Sanak, ophthalmic surgeon in Brussels
About me

I am Dr Serdal Sanak, ophthalmic surgeon specialised in refractive surgery (laser correction for myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism) and cataract surgery. I practise in Brussels within the Chirec network and at the Focus Eye Clinic in Wemmel.

My dual specialisation allows me to cover the entire spectrum of refractive surgery. A comprehensive approach, tailored to you.

Refractive surgery in Brussels

Refractive surgery encompasses all the procedures that correct visual defects and reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses and contact lenses. Myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia: for each of these conditions, there are today precise, well-documented surgical solutions, adapted to very different profiles.

The purpose of this website is simple: to help you truly understand what will happen during your procedure, and why. You will find here no commercial pitch and no promises, only honest explanations of how each operation works, the indications specific to each technique, recovery, the results one can expect, and the real risks.

Every eye is different. The surgical decision is not made based on a fashionable technique or an intuitive preference, but after a precise assessment of your corneal anatomy, your correction and your expectations. My role is to give you the information so that you can decide freely.

01
Every patient deserves an answer of their own.
Two patients with the same myopia can have very different corneas. I choose the technique based on what the assessment reveals about you. And if the assessment concludes that you should not be operated on, I explain it to you plainly.
02
Clear explanation comes first.
Understanding what we are going to do to your eyes, and why, is essential. With clear words and concrete comparisons.
03
One direct point of contact, from start to finish.
From the first appointment to postoperative follow-up, you have one direct point of contact. If something concerns you after the procedure, you contact me directly.
“Over time, I have come to understand that what patients remember most is not only the result. It is the way they were cared for.”
